Title: Happy New Year!!
Hey peepz, I am back for the new year ahead. Alot of things happened during this past week as we usher into the new year. Just to let you guys know that i didnt had a wonderful time at all on NYE and my countdown i spend it on my bed. Very disheartening but no choice. I shall elaborate more later.
After Christmas, I went to Charlene's house for our potluck session on Boxing day. I woke up early morning to prepare the food. Sushi, jelly and tacos stuffed with chicken were some of the dishes i did for this dinner. Of course with some help from my sister as well. I managed to use my aunt's car and because Weiming was in hall playing soccer i had to go over to NTU to pick him up before heading to Charlene's place. Along the way, i realised that i had forgotten my gift for the dinner and we had to make our way back to my house before going down again. Troublesome but you have to do it. By the time we got there it was almost 8pm and my stomach is making noises. I cant wait to start the dinner but to our surprise, only How chai and his girlfriend were there together with Stef and her friend. The rest of them on their way only. At least we weren't the first ones to arrive. Finally, we start the dinner and everybody was busy taking the foods and catching up with old friends. Pity Alvin could not make it due to wedding dinner but we had our fair share of fun and laughter. It was time to draw lots and the person name's who appear on the paper will be the one receiving your gift. Ironically, i will be giving my present to Weiming and he already knows that what i am giving so it wasn't a surprise anymore. I received a journal book from Stef and it was great. The cover was made of superior material.
After some talking and watching the football game between Liverpool and Newcastle, it was time to leave and hopefully we could catch up again.
I took a day off on the 28th because it was Feran's birthday and i already promised her that i will be doing something for her. On my birthday, she did some brownies for me, first time she had cooked something for me. So to return the favour, i decided to bake a cake for her on her birthday. As usual, i went to buy some stuff and the ingredients for the cake. I didnt prepare the flour and eggs, i bought this packet of powder already mixed and all i need to do is to add some eggs, oil and water and mix it evenly before spreading it evenly on the baking tin and put inside the oven. It was quite tiring to mix the ingredients well because it takes a lot of effort to do it well and evenly. Finally i can put it inside the oven for baking and to monitor the situation was a difficult task also. At first, i saw the cake slowly raising so i thought it is going to turn out nice but after 20 mins and i took it out, the top broke and the mixture started flowing out which means that it is not cooked yet. Back it goes back to the oven for further 10mins. Finally, it was ready and all i need to do is to trim off the sides and present it nicely in a container. My first ever cake baked with my own hands. Thank god she didnt had stomache after eating the cake.
On friday, my unit had its End-of-Year function in our camp premises. It was great to see some of my friends back for this function. A good time to catch up with them also. A good time to look back on the past year, 2005. After that, we decided to went drinking. One whole group of us, roughly 20 people went drinking at Devils Bar and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. This is the reason why i didnt go out on NYE because i was suffering a hang over and my throat was sore and could not take any food stuff at all. What a way to end 2005 and what a way to start 2006. This is the first time since secondary sch days when i spend the NYE night at home sleeping. It is so amazing to say the least. Anyway, its over and i believed it is going to be a wonderful year ahead for me.
2005, a year of highs and lows. It started brightly when i was comissioned as an officer on 23rd Jan. I went through a difficult period as well due to some personal problems. My friends were there to encourage me and pull me up when i needed a lift. As i settled in my new unit as a Platoon Commander, i faced with many challenges and tasks. I managed to overcome it and still working on it. It was an eye opener as i embarked on my journey in the unit. I saw many types of people and i saw how the Army works cohesively together. All in all, i would not say 2005 was a bad year, just that the difficulties that i faced was of a all time high during my 21 years on this planet. It was always my 21st birthday in 2005, a date marked as a transition into adulthood. 2005 was a mixed year for me but slightly towards the unhappy aspects of it.
2006 will be an interesting year for me because of my impending ORD and entry into university studies. It is going to be a challenge because i have been away from the books for 2 years and it will be hard to adjust myself again. Let's hope that 2006 will be a great year for myself, my family and my friends and maybe just maybe, someone will be my side to share all this with me.
Happy New Year!! *cheers*
