Title: Festive season!
Today is the last day for any public holidays in the month of November. Today is the new year for all Muslims - Selamat Hari Raya Adilfitri to all Muslims in Singapore and the rest of the world also. Its a new year so its a new beginning, let us all wish that 2006 will be a better year for all living things on planet Earth!! Sounds like i'm the Patriot!! What a joke! Anyway, this week should not be a working week at all, just a suggestion on my side, since this week there are 2 public holidays and its not side by side, why not we called this week a non-working week just for this year just for this November and just for this time only. Anyway, its coming to the end of the week already so no point suggesting as well. Maybe when we encountered this again in the near future, we can look at this and propose a solution. That will be great!
Monday, i went back to work because it is still a working day and my fellow colleague may need my help in the conference that was going to be held in the afternoon. At night, i went to Newsroom Bar for a Halloween party, this was initiated by Bryan who is in China now visiting his Dad. It was crowded or should i say packed to the brim. I went in, get some drinks and sat down at the bar drinking and chilling out with my friends, this is the 1st time i went clubbing without going on to the dance floor and just sat down there enjoying my chilled Henekien and the music. It was also the 1st time since i was legally allowed to enter a club that it rained when i was going home. Such a coincidence i must say.
Wednesday was a supposed to be a off day for many in my unit. I went back because i still got work to do and i cant possibly delayed until say Friday, then it will be too late. Some of my friends were in camp too so it wasn't a bore also. After completing what's there that needs to be done, i went off to meet my friend for dinner at Fish & Co for a sumptous dinner. Seafood platter for 2 was choice for that day followed by earl green tea to top it off. Since it was a wednesday and the next day will be a public holiday, we decided to make a trip to Zouk since the place has been renovated and earning rave reviews also. I went down later to meet my friends and i was told that at around 9pm, the quene was so long until it reaches the bridge at the back. Incredible!! it was so crowded it was unbelievable!! It seems like everybody is thinking the same idea as everyone also. What a joke!!
Effectively, the 1st week of November is ending soon and I have another 2 months to help out as much as possible before i hand over the duties slowly to my understudy. I do not think that i will leave him in the lurch and let him suffer, i will try to guide him as much as possible since next year, it is going to be a busy year for him also. It is a misconception by many that before you leave the service and becomes a NSman, you intend to go MIA and the guy who is supposed to be coming in to take over you will be there suffering from a sudden change in environment where everything has been taken care of by the course commanders. Now he has to make his own decisions and be answerable to many who are superior to him in terms of rank, seniority and experience. It is going to be a rewarding experience but it depends how you take it into your stride. I must agreed that i did enjoy this ride but not before some tougue-lashings directed at me.
